Read: Mat. 7:21-29

INTRODUCTION:

1. I call your attention to the word these in verses 24 and 26.
2. This speaks particularly of the principles in this sermon.
3. The essence of the parable is the profit in obeying Christ’s words, i.e., as was the house, so shall the life be.
4. The world’s conduct at large has been to disregard, let us look at the universal effect.

I. THE GLOWING EXPECTATIONS OF TODAY’S SOCIETY (ISA. 14:12-15)

1. We hear talk, expectations, and demands of “the good life.”

III: How most election campaigns are run thus.

2. Freedom from hunger, oppression, and discipline are all held to be fundamental rights.
3. Men feel they have an inherent right to “their part” of the earth.

III: By the “Human Rights” demonstrations and war.

II. THE WAY IN WHICH SOCIETY HAS SOUGHT THIS GOAL (PRO. 12:15 AND PRO. 14:12)

1. Instead of seeking righteousness, they have denied its definition.
2. Instead of hearing His words about marriage, they take women as they choose.
3. Instead of loving neighbor and enemy, we have filled the earth with violence.
4. Instead of confessing our depraved tendency toward lust, we love and justify our uncleanness.

III. SOCIETY’S PRESENT ATTITUDE TOWARD CHRIST’S WORDS (PSA. 2:1-4)

1. Men see evil as good and good as evil.

III: We do not lament over immorality, we call it progress.

2. The goal is not reform, but the eradication of His words.

III: Belief of the Bible is cited as the enemy of world progress.

3. There is an “educated” movement to remove Christ’s teaching from creation, morality, teaching influence.

IV. THE RESULTANT CONDITION FROM THIS REJECTION (MAT. 23:37-39)

1. It is a constant regression while seeking progress.

i. Seeking peace, we find war.
ii. While men talk about “Higher Education,” illiteracy continues to grow.
iii. Seeking mental health, suicide and crime grow.
iv. Alcohol and drug clinics increase, so does drunkenness and addiction.
v. Wealth increases, while happiness decreases.

V. WHAT IS THE ANSWER TO IT? (MAT 6:33 AND MAT. 7:24)

1. Seeking first God’s kingdom needs to pervade every facet of society.
2. How do we know how to do that? Hear “these words of mine and do them.”
