IV. THE EFFECT OF JOSHUA’S WORK

1. He led the people over Jordan, into the land of promise.
2. He divided the land, as it was conquered, unto the tribes and families of Israel.
3. This was done according to God’s ordinance and revelation and was for a perpetual inheritance.
4. He ruled in such a manner that the people were taught to fear God. (Josh. 7:16-26)
5. He ruled in such a manner that Israel followed in his footsteps long after his death.
6. From this point to the crowning of Saul, about 330 years later, there was no sure ruler over Israel. God simply raised up judges on a periodic basis.
