120 – THE WISDOM OF GOD

120 – THE WISDOM OF GOD

BIBLE INSTITUTE OF CORRESPONDENCE

COURSE: THEOLOGY II LESSON # 20

Read Psalm 104. (Note particularly verse 24.)

INTRODUCTION:

1. The fountainhead of true religion is to have right thoughts of God.

i. Contrast Psalm 104 to Malachi 3:14,15.

2. Some see Him as a hateful tyrant, others see Him as a pathetic creator who lost control.
3. Wisdom belongs to God, as an intelligent spirit.

III: Wisdom is superior to knowledge.

I. WISDOM IS A PERSONAL PERFECTION IN GOD

1. An unwise being cannot be the true God. (Job 12:13Dan. 2:20,21)
2. He is the only wise God. (Rom. 16:27I Tim. 1:17Jude 25)
3. Angels are foolish when compared to Him. (Job 4:18)
4. His wisdom is unsearchable. (Rom. 11:33)

II. GOD’S WISDOM APPEARS IN HIS DECREES

1. Contrast man’s counsels (Pro. 11:14) to God’s counsels (Isa. 25:1).
2. God’s counsels are immutable. (Pro. 19:21Isa. 46:10, Note: Heb. 6:17,18.)

III. GOD’S WISDOM IS SEEN IN CREATION – (TEXT)

1. We see it in the stars we so little understand.
2. We see it in the atmosphere, rain, heat, etc.
3. We see it in the earth’s structure and natural resources.

IV. WE SEE IT IN PROVIDENCE

1. Consider the rotating of seasons. Do you realize that God is in control? (Rom. 11:36)

III: Who do you think is running this world?

V. IT IS DISPLAYED IN HUMAN REDEMPTION (EPH. 1:8)

Do you realize this is foolish to men? (I Cor. 2:14)

1. In the discovery of the Person of our Redeemer. (Job. 33:24)

III: Only in Him could justice and mercy kiss each other.

2. In persons fixed to be redeemed, for redemption is personal.

III: Satan (Rev. 5:9Mat. 11:25)

3. It is seen in the time of man’s redemption.

i. Four thousand years of sacrifice, showing man the need.

III: Each time they knew their sins were still there.

ii. When Gentiles and Jews, alike, were in deepest darkness, light came.

CONCLUSION: We will do well to forget men’s theological philosophies and think of God’s wisdom and perfection.
