1. I have no doubt that Isaiah’s prophecy of verse 3 is one of recurring and progressive fulfillment.
2. However, if it means anything, there is an ultimate fulfillment, i.e., the peace (verse 4)
3. I cannot divorce this promise from the context of national Israel. (verses 3 and 5)
4. I cannot find any real fulfillment in the prophecy of this text, short of the promised millennium.
III: To “spiritualize” this passage is like spiritualizing Genesis 1:1.
5. I, unwaveringly, conclude that this promise is future and shall yet come to pass.
6. I speak of the conditions upon earth during the millennium.
2. This has certainly not been in any economy or age hitherto.
3. It was not fulfilled in Adam’s, or Job’s, or David’s, or Zechariah’s, or Christ’s, or Ananias’, or Peter’s, or Paul’s time.
4. But it shall be, and it will be by the power of God, at the beginning of a thousand year reign.
5. I do not claim that sin will be eradicated. It seems human depravity will remain.
II. MANY PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE CURSE WILL BE GONE
1. The animosity of Adam’s dominion shall be abated. (Rom. 8:21-23)
III: How the beauty and danger of animal life has always frustrated me.
2. There shall be a time when we shall behold these beauties of creation, unafraid.
3. I do not doubt that we shall drink of the vine and eat of the earth’s goodness with Christ.

2. He simply equates every promise to national Israel to the elect.
3. I cannot do this and keep preaching this book. (Isa. 64:17-25)
4. I am hearing more denials of this than ever in my life, and the more I hear, the less intelligent it sounds.

IV. THERE SHALL BE PEACE ON THE EARTH (ISAIAH 2:4)
1. It is true that some measure of Luke 2:14 is realized in our hearts when we are saved.
2. But as I see the declaration of Jesus’ relationship to the governments of the earth, I emphatically deny that this is the full meaning of the passage.
3. He will bring about a kingdom of peace as in Isaiah 2:4.
4. He most certainly did not come to do this at His first advent. (Mat. 10:34)
5. He came in meekness, (Isa. 53:1-3) and the world responded in rebellion.
6. But He shall come again in power and glory, and the world will bow down “every knee.”
