BIBLE INSTITUTE OF CORRESPONDENCE

COURSE: ECCLESIOLOGY V LESSON # 71
CHURCH COVENANT AND ARTICLES OF FAITH – CONCERNING RESURRECTION AND RETURN OF CHRIST

Read: Acts 1:1-11

INTRODUCTION:

1. This division of biblical thought is seen in our text.
2. After His passion (His death) what happened then?

I. HE BODILY ROSE FROM THE GRAVE(LUKE 24: 36-39)

1. The whole of the Gospel ministry hangs on this faith.
2. The Gospel culminates in His resurrection. (I Cor. 15:1-4)
3. There is no salvation if the sin-bearer’s body is corrupted.
4. Every apostle and Gospel witness personally stated this.

II. HE IS ASCENDED TO GOD’S RIGHT HAND – OUR HIGH PRIEST

1. The effect of His death is realized in intercession.
2. The Gospel is “Died according to the Scriptures, buried, and rose again according to the Scriptures.”
3. All this is typified by the day of atonement. (Lev. 16:1-34)
4. The intercessory work He is now doing is our security and assurance.

III. THIS SAME JESUS SHALL RETURN IN LIKE MANNER

1. Christ’s return is a vital issue of the Christian faith.
2. The imminence of His return is a constant Bible declaration.
3. He comes in like manner as He ascended: bodily, personally, and visibly.
4. Any departure from this truth denies the Christian faith.

IV. THEN WE SHALL BE RESURRECTED OR RAPTURED (I THES. 4:13-18)

1. This resurrection is restricted to the dead in Christ.
2. It will be precisely at His return for them.
3. It will be immediately followed by the rapture.
4. The rapture involves a change from our vile body, and a catching away.
5. The return of Christ is in two segments: rapture and revelation.

V. HIS REVELATION IS FOLLOWED BY THE MILLENNIUM

1. He shall sit upon an earthly throne as King of all kings.
2. He shall rule the nations with a rod of iron.

III:By the questions of “Gospel rule, opposed to legal rule.

3. It will be personal, immediate, sovereign and perfect.
4. Are you ready if He should come today?
