410 – The Creation of Man (The Fact of)

BIBLE INSTITUTE OF CORRESPONDENCE

COURSE:  BIBLE SURVEY I LESSON # 10
THE CREATION OF MAN (THE FACT OF)

Read: Gen. 1:26-31 and Gen. 2:8-25.

INTRODUCTION:

1. This subject has long been one of controversy–I do not expect to settle this.
2. My purpose is:

i. To show what the Bible teaches.
ii. To show the scientific feasibility of it.

I. THREE BASIC THEORIES

1. Creation, during the sixth day (according to the Genesis account).
2. Origin by random mutation, from lower forms of life (atheistic).
3. Creation, through evolution, (a compromise) between theism and atheism (irreconcilable).

II. INVESTIGATION PROVES PROOF UNPROVABLE

1. It is obvious that no man can originally pass on an account of his origin.

III: Imagining the possibility of a completely original autobiography.

3. If the Bible is not the record, none has been, or indeed can be written.
4. Dating techniques prove increasingly unreliable.

III. SCIENTIFIC NATURE OF THE GENESIS ACCOUNT

1. It is in accordance with what we see taking place today. (Gen. 1:28)

i. Male and female, not one or three genders. (Gen. 1:27)
ii. Reproducing after their kind, no other. (Gen. 1:28)
iii. Living soul, conscious of self and of God, either positively or negatively. (Gen. 1:27)
iv. Dominion, over the earth (though distorted).

2. The emotional make-up of man today is as Scripture describes. (Gen. 1:28)
3. Bible chronology leads (without interpretation) to where we are.

IV. THE UNSCIENTIFIC NATURE OF EVOLUTION

Consider this: The atheistic scientist chides us for believing that a God, whom we have never seen, made all that appears, from nothing. Is this less scientific than claiming that all we see evolved from nothing, without design or cause?

1. Evolution basically supposes effect without cause, and product without design.
2. It supposes an upward mutation through varying forms of life, without foreordination.
3. Pasteur and Tyndall proved the impossibility of spontaneous generation.
4. The advance of science is not solving but deepening the mystery of the origin of life.
5. Statements abound of scientists who attest not only to the impossibility of spontaneous life, but to the inconceivability of it.
6. Beginning is totally beyond the scope of science.
7. It must be revealed by the originator or we are forever uninformed.
