CHURCH COVENANT AND ARTICLES OF FAITH – ARTICLE OF FAITH CONCERNING THE TRUE GOD
Read: Dan. 4:34-37
INTRODUCTION:
1. All human virtue and error depends on man’s concept of God.
2. Natural man’s concepts are varied, but mostly bad.
III: His depravity and subsequent misconduct assure the error. (Rom 1:21-23)
3. God is chiefly revealed to us by His word.
4. What then does it teach us about the true GOD of HEAVEN?
I. THAT GOD IS INFINITE IN ALL HIS HOLY ATTRIBUTES
1. In His knowledge, He is omniscient. (Rom. 11:33)
2. In His existence He is omnipresent. (1Ti. 1:17)
3. In His power He is Omnipotent (Dan. 4:35)
4. It is a practical atheism that limits God in anything.
III: No difference in an impotent God and no God at all.
II. THAT THE TRUE GOD IS GLORIOUS IN HOLINESS
1. The #1 attribute of His nature is holiness. (Exo 15:11)
2. All other attributes proceed from and agree with this one.
3. Thus all His desires plans actions and results fully agree.
III: He has no desire to do what He can not, may not, or will not do.
III. HE IS SOVEREIGN CREATOR AND GOVERNOR OF ALL
1. Creation is a major issue in all theological thought. (Rev 4:11)
2. God owns all things by creation. (Joh 1:1-3,10,11)
III: By the wicked servant with one talent.
3. He is the rightful and effecatious governor of all. (Rom 9:34-36)
4. All redemptive activity relates to creation. (Rev 4:11 compared to Rev 5:9)
IV. GOD IS TRIUNE (FATHER – SON – HOLY GHOST)
1. They are three distinct persons yet one in divine essence.
2. God can neither be divided not compounded.
III: Not three parts or manifestations, but three persons. (Joh 15:26)
3. Proven by the plurality of persons in Mat 28:19-20.
4. Proven by first and second person pronouns. (Joh 6:37-39, 14:17 and 15:26)
5. Yet these three are one. (Joh 10:30)

6. This great mystery is well stated in (1 Joh 5:7).
