COMMON MARKS OF FALSE RELIGION – THE MARK OF FALSE PROMISES
Read: Luke 9:57-62
INTRODUCTION:
1. I have spoken to you of both false prophets and false professors.
2. A common trait for both of these is false promises.
3. False promise through weakness and ignorance are in us all. (Mat. 26:33-35
4. I speak of a superficial discipleship marked by perpetual lying.
I. A STRIKING CONTRAST
1. Veracity is a communicable and communicated attribute of God.
2. Veracity has always been a major, divine attribute.
3. God keeps every promise He makes. (I Kings 8:56
4. Scripture describes Him as unable to lie. (Titus 1:2
5. Conversely, false religion is marked by insincere and broken promises.
6. Herein are people impoverished, seduced, enslaved, and murdered.

II. WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THEY PROMISE?
1. Wealth is one of the favorite defraud tactics.
IIIs: By the multitude of schemes of today.

4. They promise liberty. (II Pet. 2:15-19
5. They promise life where God promises death. (Eze. 13:22
6. False professors promise discipleship. (Luke 9:57

III. THE RESULT OF FALSE PROMISES
1. The devastation and bondage of those beguiled thereby. (II Pet. 2:19

2. It is often physical death to honest, but deceived people.
